Thank you Eagle Encounters for an outstanding bird show. The children and staff were truly captivated and thoroughly enjoyed the outing!

 

Percy had a ball at our community awareness event as the Fieldband marched and danced behind him through the streets of New Horizons. At the centre many enjoyed cakes and speeches and a fantastic exhibitions done by Sterreweg caregivers. Check out the pictures of this sunny day!

 

We would like to give a huge thank you to Chris and Johan and the Elephant Sanctuary team for giving us such a generous gesture in hosting, for the third year, our annual Sabrina Love and Sterreweg Christmas party.  It is a true privilage to be able to experience the elephants and learn so much on these outings, whilst having our Christmas celebration which allows us all to be together and see each other in one big group which has grown and grown over the years..  Our children talk about this event for months, as do we, so thank you Elephant Sanctuary, for hosting us and allowing us to celebrate the year that we have all had.

 

We had a wonderfull day at Sterreweg on Casual Day and would like to thank all of the sponsors, schools, creches and visitors for their support! Without all of you this day would never have been so fantastic! Take a look in our photo album for a nice overview of Casual Day! We would like to thank the Belgian company Quasus for their generous donation which is going to go towards our much needed new bus!

Suzy Lubner kindly invited all the women of the centre for coffee, cake and a nice chat! On a cold afternoon it brought us all together and made us feel special!

24 participants joined our Appropriate Paper based Technology workshop from the 21-23 of July! During these 3 days we learned how to build standing frames and seating equipment out of cardboard. The results were stunning and now 6 children of Sterreweg have fitted equipment to put in their homes! The results can be admired in the photoalbum

 

 

The sportsclub Jogging Vremde from Belgium kindly donated a new computer for our administrative clerk to work on! The old computer kept on breaking down and Tamarin wasn't able to work efficiently. We are very greatfull to Jogging Vremde for their support!!

 

 

Sterreweg children parents and staff had a great day at the Knysna Oyster festival! We all joined the fun walk for people with disabilities and are thankfull to the organisation for this special day!

 

A big jungle to welcome you! A huge jungle was painted in the main hallway of our centre, making it even more of a magical place for our children!

 

Thank you very much correctional services! During 2 days 7 inmates were busy with fixing up our jungle gym and adding a donated new part to! Our kids can now play safely outside and are having a great time!

 

 

Thank you Gary Lubner and family ! A Power Plate was donated to Sabrina Love Foundation and installed at Sterreweg so all of the children can benefit from it! This equipment is a huge step forward for the centre and will help our children to progress even more! A big thank you goes out to Gary Lubner and family for their support!

 

1st of June: Childrens Day! For this special day our kids got their faces painted and a crown to make them feel special!

 

Thank you Christian School for your visit! The children of Sterreweg had a great time with the students of the Christian School! After singing for them they performed some nice songs for us. Our garden got cleaned up and the children glazed and decorated biscuits! We had a great time and thank you also for the donations made for our jumble sale!

 

27th of April 2010: Freedom day @ Birds of Eden Our children were invited to release birds at Birds of Eden while representing African soccer teams for the 2010 Worldcup! It was a very exiting morning for the children and staff especially with the Morning Live film crew filming Pedro releasing the birds!

 

April 2010: A new wallpainting for the Rainbowclass!   Visitors from Belgium and our volunteer Alex made a huge wallpainting in the Rainbow class! The kids just love the big animals on their wall! Thank you!! A big thank you goes out to Roger of The Paint Shop for donating  the paint!

 

April 2010: Easter eggs!   Beacon Island Easter bunny came and surprised our children with delicious Easter eggs! Thank you very much Beacon Island Hotel!

 

March 2010:We got a visit from FNB!   First National Bank came to our centre to have a look!

 

March 2010: We got a vegetable garden!   The ORCA foundation made a beautiful vegetable garden for us! This is now the responsibility of the Rainbow class. The kids are enjoying watering the plants and we are looking forward to eat our own vegetables! Thank you very much ORCA foundation!

 

February 2010: Wheelchairchallenge George!   Together with some children of the Sabrina Love Foundation we headed to George on a sunny saturday morning to attend the wheelchairchallenge! Unfortunately we arrived a bit to late to compete but we still had loads of fun. Ayesha got to meet Felicity Daniels and Percy got to meet Paul Rothmann and Dieter Voigt of Pasella! It was an unforgetable day and we would like to thank the organisation for providing us with transport and food!

 

We got a nice visit from APD and worked together on our program!
